Class Acts Drama School Summer Day Camps 2012
All camps run from 10am to 4pm at the Southend Community Centre (28 Hillview St, Sydney)
Registration: Saturday, June 23, 10am-4pm at the Southend Community Centre

July 9th-13th – Adventures in Drama 1 – age 5-7
July 16th-20th – Adventures in Drama 2 – age 8-10
July 23rd-27th – Playbuilding – age 14 and up

Culture and Heritage Day Camp – Summer Programming for Children
Daily in July: 9am to 12:30pm Mon to Thurs, Fri 9am-2pm
Cape Breton Centre for Craft and Design
Fee: $70 + HST; $65 for siblings
Cape Breton Centre for Craft and Design is offering three, week-long Culture and Heritage Day Camps for children aged 7-13. Participants will learn basic elements, techniques of design and complete craft projects while learning about the many cultures of the world!  There will also be a field trip during the week to a local heritage site as the students explore the historical connection to traditional Cape Breton craft.  At the conclusion of the camp, students will celebrate their accomplishments with invited guests.

  • Camp 1 July 9 – 13 Ages 7-8
  • Camp 2 July 16 – 20 Ages 9-10
  • Camp 3 July 23 – 27 Ages 11-13

Take part in this special living-history program for children and get a sense of what life was like for Gaels in those days past. The program features special hands-on activities including chores, crafts, games, language, and song. Costumes are provided. For ages 8-12 only. 10 am to 4 pm. $30 per child. Prepaid reservations required. No refunds or discounts. 13% HST included.

Thursdays (alternate – including July 12 & 26) – Na Deugairean/ The Teenagers Living History Program for Youth
Partake in this special living-history program for teens and get a sense of the responsibilities and the lifestyles of young Gaels in days past. The program features special hands-on activities including chores, crafts, language and song. Costumes are provided. For ages 13-17. 10 am to 4 pm. $30 per child. Prepaid reservations required. No refunds or discounts. 13% HST included.

Fridays (July 6, 13, 20, 27) – Spors/Fun Gaelic Games for Kids
Join us for a morning of interactive games that focus on language, song, dance and other aspects of Scottish heritage. Gaelic games such as Tunnag Tunnag Geadh, Duck Duck Goose, center on basic Gaelic vocabulary and phrases which are incorporated into fun and engaging games for children. Spors is for children aged 5-10. 10 am to 12 pm. Free admission.

March Break Activities at Two Rivers Wildlife Park
Canteen open everyday
Free Wagon Rides daily from 1-3pm
And of course all the animals will be happy to see you as you walk through the 1km wildlife trail, or stop down the petting zoo.
Park admission:  4 & under free, Youth/Seniors $4.50, Adults $6.50

The 12th Annual Albert Bridge Winter Carnival
Proceeds go to the Albert Bridge Community Fire Truck Fund and the Atlantic Burn Camp.
Donations of food items will also be accepted on behalf of the District 1 Food Bank at all events.
Friday March 9th – Opening Parade at 6:30pm at the fire hall.
Bring a flashlight. Hot dogs, cake and hot chocolate will follow. There will be a kids dance downstairs for children 12 years and under with music by Bobby Burke. Admission to the kids dance is a food bank donation. Munchies provided. Saturday March 10th – Pancake Breakfast at Riverside School from 8:30am to 11:30am. Admission is $5.00 per person. Tickets available from Committee Members or at the door.
– Dance will take place at the Fire Hall at 9pm, admission is a donation at the door.
Monday March 12th
– Coasting and Animal visit to Hanson’s Farm on Trout Brook Road at 12 noon.
Hot dogs and hot chocolate. Admission is a food donation.
– Bonfire will take place from 5pm to 7pm at the fire hall.
Tuesday March 12th – 2pm to 4pm Seniors Social at the Albert Bridge Fire Hall with the Inspirational Singers. Tea and sandwiches and sweets. Admission is a monetary donation at the door.

Irish Heritage Festival
Sunday March 11th to Saturday March 17th
in Dominion
Sponsored by the Shamrock Club. Events will include tarabish, cribbage, family skating, a senior’s triathlon, karaoke and more. For event details please call 849-2600

ACAP Cape Breton Day Camp
ACAP Cape Breton’s March Break Eco-Day Camp will take place from Monday March 12th to Friday March 16th from 9am to 12 noon. Space is limited and pre-registration is advised. For more information or to register please call ACAP at 561-1628.

Monday March 12th at Dominion Rink from 5pm to 7pm.

YMCA Cape Breton – Sydney Location
The YMCA of Cape Breton is holding March Break activities from Monday March 12th to Friday March 16th with a fabulous week of activity and creativity. Children will enjoy games, create works of art and meet new friends. Activities will be age specific from 8:30am to 4:30pm. A single day for members is $25.00 per child and non-members $30.00. The full week (5 days) will be $100.00 for members and $125.00 for non-members. To find out more information or to registers please call the YMCA at 562-9622 extension #1.
